Dr. Whitesel’s research interests focus on the many elements of adoption, with a special emphasis on birth parents. Dr. Whitesel is a licensed clinical social worker and has extensive experience in working with adoptive families. She has been a member of the Early Growth and Development Study (EGDS: https://www.egdstudy.org) research team since 2002. Currently, Dr. Whitesel is working with Dr. Jody Ganiban on EGDS-Health, a study focused on child physical growth and health through the examination of family dietary habits, food preferences, physical activities, and child growth patterns in birth and adoptive families.
