Malathi Thothathiri
Dynamic updating of native language
Malathi Thothathiri is an Associate Professor in the Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences department at GWU. She received her PhD in Psychology from Harvard University and subsequently completed a post-doc at the University of Pennsylvania and the Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute. After teaching at Swarthmore College for two years, she moved to GWU. Her Neuroscience of Language lab focuses on the role of language experience in shaping language use, the neural basis of sentence production and comprehension, and the interaction between language and cognitive control. Her research examines these questions in healthy adults, patients with aphasia, and typically developing children using neuroimaging (fMRI), eyetracking and other behavioral techniques.
